21 days - Train tour in Vietnam - Vietnam Reunification Express - Traveling by train along the scenic coastal regions of Vietnam
Saigon- Mekong- Saigon- Nha Trang- Danang- Hoi An- Hue- Hoi An- Hanoi- Halong- Hanoi- Sapa- Hanoi
Day 1: Saigon arrival
We will welcome you at Saigon airport and transfer you to your hotel. The rest of the day you are free at leisure.
Day 2: Saigon
The half day Saigon city tour by cyclo will lead you along the roads of Saigon to Notre Dame, Post Office, War Museum, and Ngoc Hoang pagoda. Free in the afternoon.
Day 3: Cu Chi and Tay Ninh
In the morning you go to Tay Ninh to visit the famous Cao Dai Temple. There you witness a colorful service. After the service you have lunch at a local restaurant. Then you go to the Cu Chi Tunnels.The Cu Chi Tunnels are an impressive network of tunnels with a length of over 250 km. This strategic place was used by 15,000 Viet Cong fighters during the war. In the afternoon you return to Saigon.
Day 4: Saigon- Can Tho
Transport to My Tho (75 km from Saigon). Take a cruise by motor boat on Mekong River combines with a visit to local homes and orchards, a sampan ride experience on palm-shaded creeks, together with taste of seasonal fruit and lunch of Mekong specialities. In the afternoon, further transport to Can Tho City for overnight.
Day 5: Can Tho- Saigon- Nha Trang
Boat drive on Mekong River to visit Cai Rang and Phong Dien floating markets and orchards. A cruise along mazes of creeks of countryside to see the local daily lives is also unforgettable moments. In the afternoon, go back to Saigon. After dinner, you will be transferred to the Saigon train station to take a night train to Nha Trang.
Day 6: Nha Trang
The train arrives in Nha Trang around 5:30 am. Transfer to the hotel to drop the luggage. Then take the boat trip to visit some nearby islands where you can swim or snorkel to see the submarine lives of the ocean. Further sunbathing and snorkeling will be followed by the lunch with fresh seafood specialities. Return to the offshore after other cruising around. Overnight in Nha Trang.
Day 7: Nha Trang- Danang- Hoi An
We will transfer you to the train station to take a train at 5:23 am to Danang. The train will go along the coastal line of this poor region and will show you thousand magnificent landscapes of beach sites, mountains, bustle towns and the characteristic cultural lives of the local people. The train arrives in Danang at 2:16 pm. You will be picked up and transfer to Hoi An to your hotel for check-in. Rest of the day you are free at leisure.
Day 8: Hoi An
Hoi An used to be a harbor for the businessmen on the silk road connecting China, Japan, Indian, the Netherlands and Portugal since 16th century. The walking tour in Hoi An will introduce you the ancient culture that still remains not only in the architecture but also in the life style of the local habitants. Free at night.
Day 9: Hoi An
My Son used to be the holy land for the Champa Kingdom built since 5th century to admire their Siva God. Its architecture and carving art was awarded as World Heritage by UNESCO in 2000. Take transport there, and then take a jeep along the hill alleys to the temple sites. After visiting, take the transport back to the hotel. Free at night.
Day 10: Hoi An- Danang - Hue
Be ready at 10:30 am to transfer to the Danang train station for railing to Hue (train S2). Arrival in Hue at 2:40 pm. Transfer to the hotel, then be free at leisure.
Day 11: Hue
The boat trip on the Perfume River will take you to the Thien Mu Paggoda, Tu Duc tomb. Take the transport back to the Hue Citadel for visiting the place where Vietnamese Dynasty used to stay.
Day 12: Hue- Hanoi
Free in the morning. We transfer you to the train station at 4:00 pm to take the train (at 4:42 pm) to Hanoi. Overnight on the train.
Day 13: Hanoi
After being picked up at the train station, transferred to the hotel to check-in and a refreshment, we will start the half day city tour by cyclo. The sightseeing tour will show you the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the one pillar Pagoda, the Temple of Literature, the Ho Chi Minh Stilt House, the Ngoc Son Temple and the Ancient Quarter.
Day 14: Hanoi- Halong
Transfer to the train station to take the train at 6:05 am to Hai Phong (arrive at 7:55 am). After the time for breakfast, take the 90 minutes hydrofoil from 10:30 am to Hon Gai. After that, change to the junk to start the cruise through the World Heritage site of Halong Bay. The stunning views, limestone caves, off-shore islands, sea-bathing on board and the delicious seafood lunch will make this a remarkable trip. You will have dinner among a wonderful sunset on the ocean. Relax and overnight on board.
Day 15: Halong- Cat Ba Island
Wake up among the sunrise; further cruise around before heading to the Cat Ba Island. Check-in after arrival. Then start a transport to the forest for an exploration of the local fauna and stunning sea views from the mountain. Transport back to the hotel for overnight.
Day 16 : Halong- Hanoi- Lao Cai
Further cruise along the bay after check-out, visit rock piles, sun bathing and snorkeling before getting on the hydrofoil back to Hai Phong, then at 6:10 pm railing back to Hanoi Train station (arrive Hanoi at 8:10 pm). Transfer to other train to go to Lao Cai (start at 10:20 pm).
Day 17: Lao Cai- Sapa
The train arrives in Lao Cai early in the morning (around 6:00 am). You will be woken up and picked up for a drive to Sapa for refreshing and having breakfast. Then, take a jeep to Ta Van for a trekking through Ta Van- Giang Ta Chai along a stream, up and down on the hill side trails. After having lunch, heading down on small trails to further villages, mountains and waterfalls. Take a jeep back to hotel for overnight.
Day 18: Sapa
After having breakfast, take a jeep to the villages, then head up and down on a new trekking trail. Visit more ethnic minority villages dotted at far sighted valley. After 4 hours on trails, have lunch and call on several local houses on the way back to the main road for a jeep to return you Sapa. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 19: Sapa- Lao Cai- Hanoi
After breakfast, walk down to Shin Chai of the Black H'Mong, then head along the stream to Cat Cat, a village close to Sapa but out of commercialization for their specific tradition. Visit the local houses on the way back to Sapa. Free at leisure around Sapa until 5:30 pm to take a drive to Lao Cai station for the night train at 8:30 pm back to Hanoi.
Day 20: Hanoi
Transfer from the train station to the hotel. Check-in, then free at leisure.
Day 21: Hanoi departure
At leisure till it is time to take a transfer to the airport for the flight back home
